The German Chancellor Fellowship for tomorrow's leaders

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers prospective leaders from Brazil, China, India, South Africa and the USA the opportunity to conduct a project as guests of the partner of their choice in Germany. With the support of your host you can spend a year concentrating on a project you have chosen yourself and give your career that crucial boost. German Chancellor Fellowships are open to an array of sectors such as politics, economics, media, administration and culture.
Send an application, if you are a university graduate with an international bias from Brazil, China, India, South Africa or the USA and have already acquired initial leadership experience. You should have completed your first degree less than 12 years ago and work in a sector such as politics, economics, the media, administration and culture. Please demonstrate in the application that your project will be of social significance and that you have the potential to build future bridges between Germany and your own country.
We offer you for example a monthly fellowship, additional financial support for family members accompanying you or travel expenses, individual mentoring during your stay in Germany and an extensive alumni sponsorship, particularly to help you sustain contact with collaborative partners in Germany during your entire professional career.
Joint events and a reception at the German Chancellery will provide opportunities to meet other fellows and gain insights into contemporary issues in Germany. An intensive language course will help smooth your path into everyday life in Germany. You can time your visit to Germany flexibly to suit your individual needs.
The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany is the patron of this fellowship programme.
Submit your application by 15 October.
The recommended start date for fellowships is 1 October of the following year.
